In support of OSHA's National Safety Stand-Down last week, Petzl Technical Sales Reps demonstrated Petzl’s fall protection solutions to organizations across the United States. This annual event is an opportunity for employers, workers, and PPE manufacturers to come together and discuss ways to prevent falls from height, which are among the leading causes of work-related injuries and fatalities.
Demonstrations included how to use an ASAP mobile fall arrester, how to perform a self-rescue in a MEWP (mobile elevating work platform), and how to use fall arrest and work positioning lanyards. Here is a look at Petzl’s involvement in the 2023 National Safety Stand-Down Week:
Brian Brechwald and Bill Moor demonstrated Petzl’s fall protection solutions for working in a MEWP. Their demonstrations included using Petzl’s ANSI compliant ABSORBICA-I fall arrest lanyards and NEWTON harnesses, as well as how to perform a self-rescue using the EXO personal escape system.
Brian’s demonstration in Salt Lake City, UT attracted 140 people from Hensel Phelps Construction, Whitaker Construction Company, and various subcontractors.
Bill Moor and Rudy Rutemiller (National Sales Manager) gave a demonstration at Colorado Safety Supply in Denver, Colorado. Over 40 individuals were in attendance, including solar installers, general contractors, and mining safety professionals.
Brian Hughes demonstrated various rescue and fall protection solutions, including how to perform a partner rescue, how to properly don a full body harness, applications of the GRILLON work positioning lanyard, and proper use and inspection of an industrial helmet.
Brian demonstrated Petzl’s gear and solutions to Excelon Corporation at the Limerick Nuclear Power Plant in Pennsylvania to a group of workers.
Dave Allan and Scott Thielfoldt (Petzl Business Development Manager) presented Petzl fall protection solutions at Gravitec for their Stand Down for Safety Open House at their state-of-the-art training facility in Poulsbo, WA. Their team of trainers provided several different work at height demonstrations over the course of an entire day with nearly 200 people in attendance.
