RECALL OF NEWTON, NEWTON FAST, AND NEWTON EASYFIT HARNESSES - EUROPEAN VERSIONS

Recall of certain batches of the European Version of NEWTON harnesses manufactured in 2022 (references C073AA01 C073AA02), NEWTON FAST (references C073CA01 and C073CA02) and NEWTON EASYFIT (references C073EA00, C073EA01, and C073EA02) due to a nonconforming batch of FAST LT buckles that could lead to a fatal fall. Immediately stop using the harnesses affected by this recall.

IDENTIFIED RISK

We have identified a nonconforming batch of FAST LT buckles (see images of the buckles above). On the affected harnesses, the FAST LT buckle is positioned at the chest and is used to fasten the harness.
If the harness is attached via the dorsal point and the FAST LT buckle breaks, the harness becomes unfastened. In the event that the user falls or is suspended in the harness, it is possible for them to completely exit the harness and fall to the ground.

WHICH HARNESSES ARE AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL?

Only certain batches of the European Version of NEWTON harnesses manufactured in 2022 are affected by this recall. The European Version of the NEWTON harness range is not sold in the United States or Canada.

Kits: This recall also affects NEWTON harnesses (C073AA01/C073AA02) included in the ASAP FALL ARREST KIT (K093AA00/01/02/03) and ASAP LOCK FALL ARREST KIT (K094AA00/01/02/03).

2. Identify the date of manufacture of the harness.

If the harness was not manufactured in 2022, it is not affected by this recall.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

If the harness is affected by the recall, immediately follow these instructions:

If you are a user:
- Cease all use of the affected harnesses.
- Quarantine these harnesses and return them to Petzl.
- Distribute this information to your network.
If you are a reseller:
- Cease all sales of the affected harnesses.
- Quarantine these harnesses and return them to Petzl.
- Distribute this information to your customers.

In both cases: return the harnesses to Petzl.

To do this, contact your local Petzl after-sales service via this contact form. Under "Choose a type of request", choose "Product recall" and don't forget to provide the serial number of the harness. To ensure that we can return a harness to you as soon as possible (approx. 1 week), your harness will be :

Either directly replaced with a new harness.
Or inspected by us with respect to the potentially nonconforming buckles. If the harness does not have nonconforming buckles, it will be returned to you as is (note that this operation does not replace your obligation to periodically check PPE). If the harness has a nonconforming buckle, it will be replaced with a new harness.

Petzl is responsible for all shipping costs.

No, only harnesses with the serial numbers included in the above list are affected by this recall.

Are International Versions of the NEWTON, NEWTON FAST, and NEWTON EASYFIT harnesses (sold primarily on the North American market) affected by this recall?
No, because the FAST LT buckles on these harnesses are different from the ones affected by this recall.
