Retrievable deviation in DdRT (MRS) with NAJA

For movement in the tree, placing a deviation can help improve balance or positioning at a specific work station. The deflection must use both strands, with a pulley for each strand, so as not to sacrifice travel efficiency. It's easy to create a deviation with a strap and two pulleys, but this simple system won't be retrievable. To avoid needing to go back up and dismantle the deviation, a retrievable system can be set up with the NAJA friction saver.

Warnings

  • Carefully read the Instructions for Use used in this technical advice before consulting the advice itself. You must have already read and understood the information in the Instructions for Use to be able to understand this supplementary information.
  • Mastering these techniques requires specific training. Work with a professional to confirm your ability to perform these techniques safely and independently before attempting them unsupervised.
  • We provide examples of techniques related to your activity. There may be others that we do not describe here.

WARNING: for the retrieval, the arborist must detach themself from the end of the rope. If the retrievable deviation was not correctly set up, or if retrieval fails for whatever reason, then the arborist will be stuck in the tree, with no rope and no back-up solution. Practice on the ground, or with a secondary escape system, until you're sure you've mastered this system.

Information

Notes:

- To go twice around the trunk, the NAJA strap should be as long as possible.

- It's important to attach the rope end to the system to make it completely retrievable: attach the rope end to a second MINO attached to the end of the NAJA's retrieval strap.

WARNING: if you attach the MINO to another point, for example to the slot in the middle of this strap, retrieval may be more difficult: the weight of the rope may tilt the NAJA body at the wrong moment.
