Choosing Your Petzl Climbing and Mountaineering Harness

Petzl harnesses are designed to meet the needs of vertical enthusiasts, whatever their particular passion, level or body type.

Designs for multiple body types:

Harnesses WITH adjustable leg loops, suitable for most body types and all seasons (winter and summer use)
Harnesses WITHOUT adjustable leg loops for optimal lightness and freedom of movement
Women’s harnesses with contoured waist belt, proportional rise and an adjusted leg loop/waistbelt ratio

Capacity to carry gear suited to the activity:

For gym climbing, via ferrata, glacier travel or classic mountaineering, two gear loops are sufficient
For rock or multi-pitch climbing, four gear loops are necessary
For activities requiring a lot of gear, such as trad climbing, technical mountaineering or ice climbing, a fifth gear loop is preferred
